UCLA Film & Television Archive Cataloging Procedure Manual--Voyager
Many titles look like they include performance credits which need to be dropped. For example, the title 'Burns & Allen in Lambchops,' at first glance, appears to be the title 'Lambchops,' following AACR2 practice. However, since most of these embedded titles are actually the titles of songs or vaudeville sketches, rather than the title of the film, consider the title to consist of both the credits and the sketch or song title. Make an added entry for the embedded title.

Add a series added entry for Vitaphone in the 830 field:

When the Vitaphone number includes letters, input them with a space between the letters and numbers:

In the 903 and 866 $a fields, describe the picture print as si. In the 866 $z PART/ELEMENT: and ADDITIONAL PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION: notes for the picture print, add notes of the following type:

In the 007 field for the picture print, code byte 4 (Motion picture presentation format) for the aperture, code f for full silent aperture, code z for Movietone aperture. Code byte 5 (Sound on medium) as b, and byte 6 (Medium for sound) as d. For safety prsv preprint, code byte 6 (Medium for sound) as a, if there is an accompanying optical trk, as u if there is not.
Note, the discs are as yet uninventoried, and are kept in a cabinet in the Vitaphone number order. Thus when we are inputting records into Voyager, we have no way of knowing whether an accompanying disc is held in our collection.
For preserved Vitaphones, do not guess at what was copied to make what, as the situation is too complex:
